Diversity

To me, diversity is about acceptance of all ideas and differences and being able to these together to create a mold of something great.  Diversity is a melting pot.  There's diversity in people, such as multiculturalism, and diversity in ecosystems which is biodiversity.  Basically the more diverse a population or business can become in all aspects, the more success I think will transpire over the years. By making diversity a valuable trait in a career path can help set someone up for success as well.  It means that a person is very open to change and adjustments that may need to be made.

I wanted to find a diversity statement for BP, but was unable to, so instead, I used their values which goes as follows:

BP wants to be recognised as a great company – competitively successful and a force for progress. We have a fundamental belief that we can make a difference in the world.

We help the world meet its growing need for heat, light and mobility. We strive to do that by producing energy that is affordable, secure and doesn’t damage the environment.

BP is progressive, responsible, innovative and performance driven.

USDA Forest Service:

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY

Diversity Statement

Achieving a Single Mission Through Diverse Perspectives
The Forest Service is made up of thousands of employees from very different backgrounds. But we're all working toward the same goals. For those of us in the Forest Service, diversity means much more than ethnicity, gender or culture. We believe that diverse perspectives help us solve problems more effectively. That's why we maintain an environment in which people from different backgrounds feel comfortable, and in which people feel free to express their opinions and share their viewpoints.

To help employees acclimate to life in the Forest Service, there are several employee affinity groups that give employees the opportunity to interact with others of similar backgrounds and viewpoints.
These and other initiatives support our organizational commitment to diversify the Forest Service and strengthen the diverse population of employees we already have. And the more diverse we are as an organization, the more effectively we can respond to the needs of the diverse publics we serve.

I chose Wal-mart as well since they have a lot of impact on our economy.

Respect for the Individual and Corporate Contributions

Respect for the individual is one of the core values that have made us into the company we are today. We take pride in the fact that we treat every customer, every supplier and every member of our individual communities fairly and equally.

We are working hard to make our corporate contributions reflect the values of our customers, communities, and associates. As Sam Walton said, “Each Wal-Mart store should reflect the values of its customers and support the vision they hold for their community.

Wal-Mart will not make corporate contributions to support or oppose highly controversial issues unless they directly relate to our ability to serve our customers.

Wal-Mart does not have a position on same sex marriage and we do not give preference to gay or lesbian suppliers. Wal-Mart does have a strong commitment to diversity among our associates and against discrimination everywhere.

I

I think that all they statements are basically saying the same thing, and they relate to mine on a basic level as well.
